  • When is the best time to visit Little Mary’s?
    Little Mary’s starts to accept guests in May through August, which is our summer season. Availability varies depending on family size and wheelchair access. Reservations are made on a first come first served basis.
  • How long can I plan to stay?
    We offer a 7-day stay, typically guests will stay Friday to Friday but not always. During our summer season, we ask that guests depart by 10:00am to allow for cleaning. Check in on Friday is 3:00 pm. Please keep house managers abreast of your plans so we will be ready for you.
  • How do I check to see if there is availability?
    Submit a complete application online and include preferred dates 1st and 2nd options of stay. Staff will be in contact to confirm the availability and discuss any specific needs.
  • How long does it take for the application to process?
    Our goal is to get back with all applicants in a timely manner. Please feel free to call if you have not heard from someone within a couple weeks of submission.
  • Can I request a specific apartment?
    Yes. However, only 2 of our apartments are wheelchair accessible, therefore, we do our best to match the needs of each family with availability.
  • Can I bring another family member or nurse with us?
    Absolutely! Families can bring close family and/or nurse along and will be provided separate accommodations if desired.
  • If my child has specific medical needs, is there medical staff available?
    No, Little Mary's does not have medically trained staff available.
  • How many times can we visit Little Mary’s?
    The limit is once a summer for our youngest guests who are in treatment. First time visitors receive priority scheduling.
  • Can we visit after the loss of our child?
    Families recovering from a loss may have two complimentary visits.
  • Can I pay to stay at Little Mary’s after 2 visits?
    Yes, if space is available, you may stay for a fee. The cost is determined by the board of directors. However, priority scheduling is available to families who are in active treatment or mourning the loss of a child for no cost.
  • Will I have cellular service and/or Wi-Fi available?
    Most cellular services are available in Wellston, but signals may vary depending on the provider. All apartments are equipped with Wi-Fi access and TVs with ROKU. Apartments do NOT have telephones.
  • Is there a coffee pot available?
    Each apartment is stocked with a filtered coffee pot (non-Keurig type), stove, microwave, toaster and stocked with dishes, utensils, pots & pans.
  • Do we need to bring our own linens?
    No, Little Mary’s provides clean bedding and bathroom linens available for your use. Feel free to bring any special blankets and beach towels.
  • Will I have to clean my own apartment before leaving?
    We ask that guests help us out by gathering all dirty linens and putting them in the laundry baskets provided and clean any dishes used during your stay. Each apartment is provided with basic cleaning supplies (sprays, vacuum, brooms, mops, garbage bags, etc) for easy access and to make your stay comfortable.
  • Is there laundry facilities on the property?
    No, there is a public facility operated with coins nearby for families to use.
  • Will we have a daily cleaning service during our stay?
    There is no daily cleaning service. Each apartment is supplied with various linens to accommodate a week’s stay. Our house manager(s) are on property and can assist with any immediate maintenance or emergency laundry needs.
  • Are there watercrafts available for use?
    Yes, Little Mary's has a pontoon and paddle boat. Please contact the house managers if you’d like to use any of LM watercrafts so we can go over boat safety and rules for use. We have limited sizes of life jackets available for use, bring your own if you have them.
  • Is fishing available?
    Crystal Lake offers an enjoyable environment to fish, please bring your own equipment and attain any necessary license according to DNR Rules.
  • Is there a swimming pool?
    No. However, we have watercrafts available for guests to use on Crystal Lake, which is right across the short driveway. Crystal Lake has a public sandy beach and dock area that is within walking distance.
  • Are there gas grills?
    Yes, guests are welcome to use the gas grills and enjoy the picnic tables and covered gazebos. We ask that you clean up after yourselves, put all trash in closed garbage bins. Please inform our staff if assistance is needed.
  • When can the fire pit be used?
    Guests should contact House Managers to arrange use of the fire pits. Some restrictions may apply due to local township permits.
  • Can our children use bikes?
    Yes, we have several bike sizes available for use by our guests. However, we ask that parents closely supervise their children and pick a bike within their skill level. Please return bikes to the rack. We suggest that parents take the tandem bike for a stroll around the lake. We do NOT have bike helmets for use, please bring your own.
  • What are the hours of the recreational room?
    Rec room hours are 9:00 am to 10:00 pm and children are to be supervised. On the property we have available to guest’s foosball, air hockey, indoor basketball, pool, pinpong, 70”smart TV room for movie viewing, XBox 360 with Connect, piano, many board and card games.
  • What are the quiet hours?
    Between 10:00 pm and 7:00 am are the times we ask our guests to limit outdoor activities to the fire pit area and done so quietly.
  • Is there fast food in Wellston?
    There are family-owned restaurants, gas stations, Family Dollar, and Dublin General Grocery store all within 5 miles of our property. Keep in mind that these locations have varying hours of operation. Most businesses are closed by 10:00 pm. The nearest fast-food chains are ~25 minutes East to Cadillac or West to Manistee.
  • How far is Little Mary’s from Lake Michigan?
    Manistee offers 25 miles of white sandy beaches on Lake Michigan which is located just 22 miles West of Wellston.
  • Is there an Urgent Care in the area?
    There is Urgent Care in Wellston with varying hours of operation for non-life threatening, quality medical care. There are several other health care centers in neighboring cities and larger hospitals in Manistee, Cadillac, and Traverse City.
  • Is there a pharmacy in the area?
    There is Wrigleys Pharmacy in the nearby town of Dublin. Most of the larger store chains with a pharmacy are in Cadillac and Manistee like Walgreens, Walmart, and Meijer.
  • How do I plan a retreat at Little Marys?
    Retreats are scheduled in the spring (Apr-May) and fall (Sept-Oct). Please contact us to see if the date is available.
  • Is there a cost for a retreat?
    Yes, there is a facility usage fee and refundable cleaning deposit.
  • Is there catering available for a retreat?
    No, we do not offer any kind of catering. However apartments have fully equipped kitchens for use. We do have available for use in the rec room a standard refrigerator, microwave, toaster oven, Keurig Coffee maker, and a popcorn machine.
  • Is there a big screen tv or projector available for retreat guests?
    Retreat planners have access to two 70” smart TV’s in different rooms. There is Wi-Fi access and HDMI access (bring your own cables and laptop). We do NOT have a projector or wall to project on.
  • How many people can a retreat accommodate?
    Our recreational room is 3000 sq. ft between 2 rooms. We have limited tables and chairs available for use and the larger recreational room has a pool table, air hockey table, and ping pong table that can NOT be moved. Suggest sleeping options limited to 30. Please contact us to discuss details.
  • How can I support Little Mary’s financially?
    We accept monthly, quarterly, yearly, and one-time gifts via credit card using Paypal, cash, checks and automatic bank debit.
  • Is my donation tax deductible?
    Yes, Little Mary’s is a 501 (c) 3 non- profit organization.
  • How can I make a donation in memory of someone special?
    Include the name of the person you’d like to memorize when making your donation.
  • How can I volunteer my time or bring a group?
    Many corporations in lieu of financial donations offer people and time, we have many projects that would welcome the volunteer of time. Please contact us via phone for more information.
  • How can I fundraise for Little Mary’s?
    We welcome fundraising events in support of LM: Here are some ideas: Collection of paper products: paper towels, toilet paper, small and large garbage bags, cleaning items, hand soap, laundry detergent, etc. Linen drive: Collection of bath towels, washcloths, hand towels, kitchen clothes, sheets, washable mattress pads. Gift card drive: Gas cards, Walmart, Meijer, Dublin General Store, Dollar General, Costco, Aldi, Amazon are always a blessing to keep our apartments updated and stocked for our guests. Car washes, bake sales, craft sales, golf outings. We’d be happy to support your efforts by providing marketing information and a letter of acknowledgement.
  • How can I manage my recurring donations?
